On September 7, 2024, members of the Kingston Police responded to a panic alarm activation at a shelter located in the area of Montreal Street and Joseph Street.

Kingston Police and Équité Association, a not-for-profit working to eradicate insurance crime on behalf of the Canadian property and casualty insurance industry, are joining forces to combat and prevent auto thefts in the City of Kingston, through Project Memphis.

In the early hours of September 5, 2024, members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division responded to a report of a robbery at a north end convenience store.

On August 28, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m. members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division attended a residence in the area of Wellington Street and Gore Street to conduct a welfare check on an individual. Police had previously been contacted by the individual’s family with concerns for their mental and physical well-being.

On August 30, 2024, at approximately 11:30 a.m. the Kingston Police Urban Foot Patrol officers were conducting patrol in the area of Queen Street and Wellington Street when they observed an individual passing a pipe to another individual.

With the resumption of post-secondary classes in September, the Kingston Police Fraud Unit would like to remind students to be aware of scams that target them directly.

On July 11, 2024, an elderly woman attended a financial institution located at the Kingston Center. The woman proceeded to use the ATM in the front vestibule.

The Kingston Police Services Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Inspector Matt Funnell as the new Deputy Chief of Police effective September 10, 2024.

In early August 2024, investigators assigned to the Kingston Police Special Services Division received information regarding drug trafficking within the City of Kingston.

In July 2024, investigators from the Correctional Service of Canada, Ontario Provincial Police-led Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad, and the Kingston Police Intelligence Unit launched a joint investigation into a Correctional Officer suspected of smuggling weapons, drugs, and contraband to an inmate at Collins Bay Institution.
