Sergeant Samuel James Arniel

APRIL 19, 1919

Born in Kingston, Sergeant Arniel served the Police Department for more than twenty years. On April 19, 1919, while escorting a prisoner to the police station, Sergeant Arniel suffered a fatal heart attack in the line of duty. He was 55 years old. Respected throughout the community, his service and dedication will not be forgotten.

Constable Merritt Carl Gray

APRIL 29, 1948

On April 26, 1948, Constable Gray was injured while operating a police motorcycle on Princess Street in Kingston. He succumbed to his injuries four days later. A dedicated member of the Kingston Police for two years, he was 29 years old. His service and sacrifice are remembered with honour.

Constable Millard Brennan

AUGUST 15, 1951

On August 15, 1951, Constable Brennan became ill after assisting in the arrest of an intoxicated prisoner while performing his duties as a Kingston police officer. He died shortly thereafter from a heart attack at the age of 37. A devoted husband and father, he had served with the Kingston Police for nine years. His dedication and service to the community are remembered with gratitude and respect.

Detective Thomas Bruce Cooper

NOVEMBER 8, 1973

On September 17, 1973, Detective Cooper responded to assist fellow officers at a domestic incident involving an armed individual in Kingston. During the encounter, gunfire erupted and Detective Cooper was critically wounded. He succumbed to his injuries on November 8, 1973, at the age of 41. A dedicated member of the Kingston Police for sixteen years, he is remembered for his courage, service, and sacrifice.

Constable John Lau

JULY 29, 1978

Constable Lau was killed in the line of duty on November 9, 1978, when a stolen vehicle struck his police cruiser as he and his partner prepared to assist in a pursuit at the intersection of University Avenue and Brock Street in Kingston. He was 29 years old and had served with the Kingston Police for six years. He is remembered for his dedication, service, and sacrifice to the community.
