Annual Reports
Message from the Chief
Welcome to our newly designed Annual Report. It is my privilege to represent the civilian and sworn staff of the Kingston Police and our Kingston Police Community Volunteers, and this Annual Report is a testament to the collaboration and professionalism of our members. We are fortunate to work closely with the Kingston Police Service Board in ensuring that we advance the priorities as set out in the Strategic Plan. We will never lose sight of the fact that there is much work to be done but we also must take some time to reflect on our accomplishments. A few notable achievements include:
- The alignment with City of Kingston finance which led to a surplus year after numerous years of deficits
- The development and successful implementation of the Police Liaison Team which has allowed a reduction in resources and finances in policing mass gatherings
- The implementation of Joint Force Operations with Canada Border Services and the Correctional Services of Canada, which has assisted in our efforts to combat organized crime
- The second annual “Fun Fair” which opens our doors to thousands of Kingstonians and their families
- A partnership with the Downtown Business Association and the City of Kingston to establish a permanent foot patrol program in the Downtown core
- Implementation of Active Bystandership for Law Enforcement Training which was delivered to all sworn staff in 2024
Our path forward includes:
- Advocating for more resources to address mental health and addiction issues
- Continuing to meet the goals outlined in the Strategic Plan
- Delivering policing services in a complex and vibrant community
We also want to thank the community for their patience and support during a very challenging year in 2024. Together we are strong! We appreciate you taking the time to review this new format for our annual reporting, and look forward to working with you in creating a safer Kingston.
