Traffic Safety Initiative Planned for Canada Day
June 29, 2026
Kingston Police would like to advise the public that members of the Traffic Safety Unit will be conducting a proactive safety initiative throughout the city on Canada Day (July 1) to help ensure everyone can celebrate safely.
Officers will be focusing on key factors that contribute to serious collisions, including speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving, seatbelt usage, and aggressive driving. In addition, officers will be monitoring for unsafe vehicles, including those with improper modifications or issues related to poor maintenance.
Drivers are also reminded that Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) is in effect across Ontario. Motorists stopped by police should be prepared to provide a breath sample when directed to do so.
The goal of these efforts is to promote road safety for all who use Kingston’s streets, including drivers, passengers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Kingston Police encourage everyone to plan ahead, make responsible choices, and help ensure a safe and enjoyable Canada Day for the entire community.
