Police warn residents of jewelry scam

On September 27, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m. in the area of Division Street and Conacher Drive, an elderly victim was approached by two individuals in a black SUV.

One of the individuals, described as a female wearing a head covering/scarf over her head offered a rose to the victim. While giving the rose, the suspect removed two gold necklaces and medical alert bracelet from the victim, replacing them with imitation jewelry.

Police are reminding citizens to be cautious of individuals asking for directions or offering gifts. Always maintain an appropriate conversational distance when interacting with strangers and never let anyone place their hands or any items on your person.
