Kingston Police Caution The Public About Scam Calls Using Spoofed Caller ID

Kingston Police are cautioning the public about a recent string of scam calls in which individuals are spoofing the Kingston Police phone number and caller ID information.

Police have received reports of suspicious calls where the caller ID may appear as “Kingston Police” or “No Caller ID” and display a legitimate Kingston Police phone number. The callers may falsely identify themselves as police officers, request personal information, or claim the recipient is involved in an investigation. In many cases when the call is not answered, no voicemail message is left.

Kingston Police remind the public that scammers can manipulate caller ID information to make calls appear legitimate.

Residents are advised to:

  • Never provide personal, banking, or financial information over the phone to unsolicited callers
  • Hang up immediately if a call seems suspicious
  • Contact Kingston Police directly through official channels to verify the legitimacy of the call

If you receive one of these calls, do not engage with the caller or share any information.

Anyone who believes they may have been targeted by a scam is encouraged to contact Kingston Police directly, at 613-549-4660 ext. 0.
