Kingston Police arrest impaired driver

On September 5, 2026, at approximately 1:00 a.m. members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Portsmouth Ave at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle was subsequently stopped in the area of Portsmouth Avenue and Churchill Street. Upon speaking to the driver of the vehicle officers formed grounds to demand the driver provide a sample of their breath into an approved alcohol screening device.
The driver provided a sample of their breath into an approved screening device which resulted in a "Fail" reading.
The 33-year-old driver from Kingston was arrested and charged with impaired operation, impaired operation exceed blood alcohol concentration and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
They were transported to Kingston Police headquarters and later released with a future court date.
