During the early evening hours of April 9, 2026 Kingston Police received a report of a light blue BMW travelling at a high rate of speed in the area of Princess Street and Ontario Street.
A short while later the same BMW was involved in a separate incident with another motor vehicle. Police attended and spoke to all parties involved. Upon leaving the area the BMW was observed by officers accelerating at a high rate of speed causing the rear tires to squeal and lose traction with the pavement.
The BMW was then observed by officers failing to stop for a red light at the intersection of Queen Street and Barrack Street causing on-coming traffic to stop.
Officers then located the BMW travelling in the area of Montreal Street and Rideau Street. Upon initiating their emergency lights, and siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle, the BMW evaded the police cruiser by moving onto the sidewalk and proceeding North bound on Montreal Street.
A short while later the BMW was observed in the area on Montreal Street and John Counter Boulevard travelling at a high rate of speed. While proceeding through the intersection the BMW was observed passing two vehicles by moving into oncoming traffic.
At approximately 9:15 p.m. the BMW was located in the parking lot of St Lawrence College. At approximately 10:00 p.m. the driver of the BMW who had spoken to officers earlier in the evening was located in a nearby park and arrested.
The 19 year old driver of the BMW from Lansdowne was arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation and Fail to Stop for Police. They were transported to Kingston Police and released with a future court date.
