The Alternate Response Unit (ARU) consists of a officers who work on investigating walk-in, telephone, and online complaints, and take on station queues as required.

Along with their own workload, ARU officers provide patrol back-up as needed and administrative support to officers on investigations, including interviews, documentation, and briefs. They also provide support in a multitude of ways for other organizational divisions or units such as Criminal Investigations, Court Services, and Community Oriented Response and Engagement.
