Kingston Police Traffic Safety Initiative Promotes Safer Roads Over Canada Day
The Kingston Police Traffic Safety Unit’s Canada Day safety initiative resulted in 34 charges being laid during targeted efforts aimed at keeping roadways safe throughout the day. The majority of offences were related to speeding, with some drivers travelling as much as 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.
Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) was conducted during numerous traffic stops, resulting in a seven-day license suspension for one driver who registered a warning level for alcohol. Additionally, one vehicle was removed from the roadway due to safety concerns, and various warnings were issued.
The Traffic Safety Unit would like to thank the majority of drivers who contributed to a safe holiday weekend by driving responsibly.
Proactive safety initiatives such as this play an important role in improving road safety and reducing the risk of collisions caused by unsafe driving behaviours. The Kingston Police Traffic Safety Unit remains committed to keeping our roads safe through ongoing safety, prevention, and public awareness initiatives.
