Street Crime Unit Arrests Armed Offender

On Friday, May 9, 2025, members of the Kingston Police Street Crime Unit were conducting proactive patrols in the area of Patrick Street and Joseph Street when they engaged in an investigation involving an individual well known to police.
During the interaction, the individual attempted to discard what appeared to be a firearm. After a brief struggle, officers arrested the suspect and recovered a 9mm semi-automatic handgun equipped with a scope.
A 41-year-old Kingston resident was arrested and charged with resists arrest, four counts of breach of probation, 5 counts of breach of weapons prohibition along with multiple firearm related offences. They were transported to Kingston Police headquarters, held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.
At the time of the arrest, the accused was bound by two active probation orders and five separate weapons prohibitions, all stemming from prior convictions for weapons possession, assault, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. The accused has a criminal record that includes over 70 prior convictions.
Kingston Police remains committed to identifying and arresting repeat offenders who unlawfully possess dangerous firearms used for intimidation or street-level protection. Community members are encouraged to report any information related to drug activity or weapons offences.
