Quick Police Response and K9 “Juice” Led to Arrest Following Commercial Break and Enter

On Thursday, March 5, 2026, at approximately 7:00 a.m., staff at the Cataraqui Cemetery noticed an insecure building on the property. Upon checking the structure, a staff member discovered it had been forcibly entered.

While inspecting the area further, the staff member encountered the suspect still inside the building. The individual fled on foot moments after being discovered, and police were immediately notified.

Members of the Emergency Response Unit, General Patrol Division, and the K9 Unit responded to the scene. At approximately 7:30 a.m., K9 handler Cst. Paquette, accompanied by Police Service Dog “Juice,” initiated a track. Within minutes - at 7:35 a.m. - K9 Juice successfully located the suspect, who was arrested without incident.

A subsequent search of the individual led to the discovery of numerous tools commonly used in break and enter offences.

A 48‑year‑old Kingston resident was arrested and charged with:

• Break and enter with intent
• Possession of break and enter tools
• Mischief under $5,000
• Breach of probation

The accused was transported to Kingston Police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
