Police charge reckless driver

On November 6, 2025, shortly after midnight two members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division were in the area of Princess Street and Bagot Street when their attention was drawn to a vehicle revving its engine at a red light.
As the traffic light turned green the driver of the vehicle, a black colored pick-up truck, performed a ‘burnout’ in the intersection before accelerating away at a high rate of speed.
The officer’s located the vehicle and driver a short distance away on Ontario Street. Upon approaching the vehicle officers observed an open container of alcohol in the vehicle cup holder.
The driver was issued a demand to provide a sample of their breath into an Approved Screening Device. The sample provided by the driver registered within the ‘warning’ range.
The driver's licence was consequently seized and suspended for a period of 30 days while the vehicle was impounded for a period of 14 days.
The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old of Wolfe Island was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with race a motor vehicle, fail to stop for police, and young driver – BAC above zero. The driver was also charged under the Liquor License Control Act in relation to the open container of alcohol located within the vehicle.
