Police charge male with aggravated assault

On June 13, 2025, at approximately 10:40 p.m. members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division responded to a local shelter in the area of Adelaide Street at Cowdy Street in regards to a report of an assault with a weapon.
Through the course of investigation, it was determined that the victim, who had arrived at the property approximately five minutes before the incident, was standing outside speaking with other individuals when the accused approached him from the rear and assaulted him with an edged weapon.
The victim was transported to hospital where they received treatment for serious injuries. The accused, who was known to the victim, had fled the area prior to police arrival.
On June 15, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m. the 45-year-old accused of Kingston was located walking in the area of Princess Street and Drayton Avenue. The accused was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace.
The accused was transported to Kingston Police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
