Police arrest impaired driver

On June 12, 2025, at approximately 8:45 a.m. the Kingston Police responded to numerous reports of a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Cataraqui Woods Drive and Bayridge Drive.

The reports indicated that the vehicle had struck another vehicle at a gas bar in the area of Princess Street and Bayridge Drive before fleeing. Another caller stated the vehicle was driving at excessive speeds, swerving into on-coming traffic, disobeying traffic signals and nearly struck a child crossing the road at a crosswalk.

Officers located the vehicle in the area of Gardiners Road and Golden Mile Road and conducted a traffic stop at approximately 9:00 a.m.

Through the course of investigation officers determined that the driver was impaired and also in possession of a quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine.

The 33-year-old driver of the vehicle, from Kingston, was arrested for impaired operation by drug, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and two counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking. The driver was transported to Kingston Police Headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
