Kingston Police Partners with the Community for Crime Prevention Week 2025: “Working Together for Safer Communities”

The Kingston Police in partnership with the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and the Government of Ontario, is proud to take part in Ontario’s annual Crime Prevention Week, running from November 2–8, 2025.

This year’s theme, “Working Together to Protect Ontario,” emphasizes that crime prevention is everyone’s responsibility—it takes the combined efforts of police, government, community partners, businesses, and residents to protect our neighbourhoods.

“Preventing crime begins with strong relationships. Crime hurts people who live in our community. When someone is a victim of crime, we all suffer,” said Cst. Anthony Colangeli. “When our police officers, community members, and local organizations work hand in hand, we create real solutions that reduce victimization and promote safety for everyone.”

Throughout the week, the Kingston Police will join police services across Ontario in focusing on four key priorities:

1.         Crimes Against Persons – Preventing violence and harm through education, awareness, and proactive policing.

2.         Crimes Against Businesses – Partnering with the business community to address theft, fraud, and property-related crimes.

3.         Reducing Victimization – Empowering residents through prevention programs and support services.

4.         Justice Reform and Bail Reform – Supporting ongoing reforms that ensure accountability and enhance community safety.

“Crime Prevention Week reminds us that safety starts with collaboration,” added Cst. Colangeli “By sharing information, staying vigilant, and looking out for one another, we can make a real difference in preventing crime before it happens.”

As part of Crime Prevention Week, the Kingston Police is encouraging residents to sign up for the CAMSafe Program. CAMSafe is a great example of how residents can contribute to protecting their community.

Crime Prevention Week is supported by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
