Kingston Police investigate west end homicide

On the evening of December 30, 2025, Kingston Police were called to Kingston General Hospital in response to an unidentified male patient who had died having suffered injuries that were the result of an assault.
The initial investigation revealed the male’s identity as 34-year-old Kingston resident Jayme Shawn Syring, and that the incident took place at a residence in the 2600-block of Princess Street.
The Major Crime Unit began a murder investigation, with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Section and the Patrol Division.
During the morning hours of January 1, 2026, with assistance from the Street Crime and Drug Enforcement Units, a 51-year-old Kingston man was arrested, and a search warrant was executed in the 100-block of Sutherland Drive.
The accused is scheduled to appear in bail court on January 2, 2026.
The investigation is ongoing and additional evidence is still being gathered in relation to this incident. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no risk to public safety. No other injuries were reported in relation to this incident.
