Kingston Police Conclude Investigation into Bestiality and Animal Endangerment
25-15149
The Kingston Police Special Services Unit has concluded an investigation that has resulted in serious criminal charges against two local residents in connection with acts of bestiality and the endangerment of an animal.
Over the past month, Special Services investigators, with assistance from the Kingston Police Technological Crimes Unit, examined graphic images and videos extracted from cellular devices seized during a previous drug-related investigation. The material depicted various sexual acts involving the co-accused’s dog, ultimately leading to the identification of two suspects.
On Friday, May 16, 2025, both individuals were arrested without incident and held for bail hearings.
A 32-year-old male—already facing charges for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Proceeds of Crime—has now been jointly charged with a 25-year-old female with bestiality and injuring an animal.
Kingston Police would like to extend sincere appreciation to Provincial inspectors from the Animal Welfare services for their invaluable assistance throughout this investigation.
The dog has been seized and is currently in the care of Animal Welfare Services under the authority of the Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) Act. The PAWS Act outlines the minimum standards of care required for all animals in Ontario, including:
• Adequate food and water
• Access to veterinary care
• Sanitary living conditions
• Sufficient space for natural movement and exercise
Ontario enforces the strongest penalties in Canada for animal cruelty, including offences such as:
• Causing or permitting an animal to be in distress
• Failing to meet standards of care
• Participating in animal fighting or baiting
