Kingston Police arrest individual with imitation firearm

25-15795

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, an individual attended a gas bar in the area of Concession Street and Bath Road.

While at the gas pump area, the individual was observed with what appeared to be a white handgun. The individual then began walking toward the gas bar and pacing out front while moving the item across their face and neck, and eventually pointing it toward the glass at the front of the gas bar. The individual then began to point the item at various objects on the property.

Police were contacted; however, the individual had left the area prior to their arrival. Responding officers located the individual in the nearby area at 8:38 a.m. and seized an imitation firearm cut out from a plastic container.

The individual was arrested and during the arrest process assaulted an officer by spitting in their face. Further investigation revealed that the individual was currently bound by a release order with several conditions, one of which was to not possess any weapons as defined by the Criminal Code, which includes imitation firearms, or any item used to intimidate a person.

The 27-year-old individual from Kingston was charged with harassment by threatening conduct, assaulting a peace office and failing to comply with conditions of a release order. They were transported to Kingston Police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
