Investigators charge female with second-degree murder

On July 27, 2025, the Kingston Police Major Crime Unit initiated an investigation into a suspicious death that occurred in the 1400 block of Albany Drive, in Kingston’s West end.
The investigation included assistance from the Patrol Division, Forensic Identification Section, as well as the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
On July 29, 2025, 22-year-old Thi My NGUYEN was arrested by detectives from the Major Crime Unit and charged with Improperly Interfering with a Dead Body. NGUYEN appeared in Kingston’s bail court on July 30th and was held in custody at that time.
As a result of the continued investigation, NGUYEN has now been arrested and is charged with the Second-Degree Murder of a newborn child. Due to the circumstances of the incident under investigation, no prior release was made, as there was no apparent risk to public safety. This remains the case today.
