Driver flees from scene of accident

On December 31, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m. members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision in the area of Portsmouth Avenue and Old Quarry Road.

On arrival officers discovered the driver of the motor vehicle had fled on foot. A K9 track commenced which yielded negative results.

Through the course of investigation officers were able to determine the identity of the driver and located them at local hospital being treated for injuries consistent with being involved in a motor vehicle collision.

Upon being released from hospital the driver was transported to Kingston Police headquarters where they provided two samples of their breath for analysis.

The 27-year-old driver from Kingston was subsequently charged leaving the scene of an accident, impaired operation and impaired operation exceed blood alcohol concentration. They were held in custody until sober and released with a future court date.
