Downtown Officer catches thief in the act

On December 5, 2025, at approximately 12:25 p.m. an officer with the Kingston Police CORE Unit assigned to the downtown area was notified of a theft occurring in the area of Princess Street and Sydenham Street.

The officer, who was in the nearby area promptly attended the business and apprehended the thief who was in the process of stealing the items. The thief, who is known to police, from previous theft incidents at the same business, was also bound by criminal conditions not to attend this business

The 47-year-old accused person of Kingston was arrested and charged with four counts of breach of probation and resisting arrest. They were transported to Kingston Police headquarters where they were held for a bail hearing.

In total approximately $2000 worth of merchandise was recovered by the business.
