C.O.R.E officers arrest two individuals for firearm related offences

On July 10, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m. members of the Kingston Police C.O.R.E Unit were conducting proactive patrols in the area of Nelson Street and Concession Street when they observed two individuals displaying suspicious behaviour.

The officer’s noted one individual was carrying a shoulder bag and upon seeing police handed the bag to another individual who immediately tried to enter a nearby shelter in an attempt to evade police.

Concerned for the safety of the shelter occupants as the contents of the bag were unknown, officers intercepted the individual attempting to enter the shelter.

The bag was search and a replica Glock 19x firearm capable of shooting metal pellets was located. Both individuals were arrested for possession of weapons dangerous to the public peace. Further investigation revealed both individuals were bound by court release orders prohibiting them from carrying any weapons, including imitation firearms.

Both of the 20-year-old individuals from Kingston were arrested and transported to Kingston Police headquarters where they were held for a bail hearing.
