C.O.R.E officers arrest individual in possession of stolen property, drugs, weapons and break and enter tools
On July 9, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m. officers with the Kingston Police C.O.R.E Unit were doing proactive patrol in the area of Bath Road and Palace Road when they observed an individual in possession of a high-end road bike.
The officers utilized the ‘Garage 529’ bike registration program and discovered the bike had been reported stolen the day prior.
The individual was subsequently arrested for possession of stolen property. A further search of the individual revealed they were in possession of a quantity of crystal methamphetamine, bear spray and several tools which could be used to commit break and enters. The tools included but were not limited to an angle grinder with extra grinding wheels, a pry bar and bolt cutters.
The 27-year-old individual was further arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of break and enter tools, possession of weapons dangerous to the public peace and two counts of breach probation. The individual was bound by two separate probation orders both of which were stemming from charges related to breaking into storage units.
They were transported to Kingston Police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. Arrangements were made to return the bike to the rightful owner.

What is 529 Garage?
529 Garage is an online bike registry which allows bike owners to register their bike as well as upload photos and provide relevant information (make, model, serial number etc.) about their bike. Owners also provide contact information in the event their bike is stolen or recovered.
How to use it?
Download the app or head directly to the website, create an account and register your bike 100% free. If your bike is stolen you can report/flag it as stolen. Users can also search for bikes using the program to determine if they may be stolen. This is particularly useful when purchasing a bike second hand.
Useful tips
When uploading a photo of your bike include a photo with you in it. That way if an officer queries your bike, not only can they compare your information to the person riding the bike but also what you look like.
Include a phone number in your contact information so you can easily be contacted at any hour.
