Motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles leads to one of the drivers being assaulted

On April 25, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of York Street and Division Street, in downtown Kingston, regarding a motor vehicle collision that had just occurred.

While still enroute to this location, police received further information that an assault had just taken place at the scene of this collision.

Arriving at the scene of the motor vehicle collision, police learned that a relative of one of the involved drivers had attended this location and, following a brief argument, punched the other driver whose vehicle had originally been rearended.

The other driver and their relative, the accused, had then left prior to police arrival, and attended police headquarters to complete a motor vehicle collision report. The accused was promptly arrested for the assault. The accused was later released on conditions with a future court date.

A 39-year-old local individual was charged with assault.
