24-3909
On February 4, 2024, at approximately 7:40 a.m. police responded to a call regarding an assault which had occurred at a residence on Kingsdale Avenue in Kingston’s west end.
Further investigation revealed that early on this date between approximately 1:30-2:00 a.m. the accused had become involved in an argument with their ex-partner who was now residing with a roommate. During the argument, the ex-partner retreated to the confines of their roommate’s bedroom. The accused also entered the bedroom, at which time, and without provocation, they struck the roommate in the face, causing a large open wound.
The accused then forcefully pushed their ex-partner to the ground and began punching them before fleeing from the residence.
The roommate attended the hospital where they required significant medical care to treat their injuries.
After an extensive search the accused was located and arrested in the area of James Street and Patrick Street at approximately 8:30 p.m. on February 4, 2024. The accused was then transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
A 23-year-old local individual was charged with aggravated assault, assault, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and five counts of breaching probation.
