Impaired driver caught after driving into ditch

Release Date: February 3, 2023

On February 2, 2023 the accused was driving eastbound on Taylor Kidd Boulevard. Along a straight stretch of Taylor Kidd Boulevard east of Coronation Boulevard the accused drove off the roadway and into the ditch.

At approximately 7:00 p.m. responding officers located the vehicle apparently undamaged but stuck and requiring a tow to be pulled out of the snow filled ditch. Officers observed an open six-pack of alcohol in the vehicle and made observations the driver was impaired by alcohol.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to police headquarters to provide breath samples. The accused was found to have more than double the legal limit of alcohol.

A 45-year-old Amherstview individual was charged with Impaired Operation and Over 80 and later released on conditions with a future court date.
