Arrest made and charges laid after vehicle vandalized in downtown parking lot

On March 27, 2024, at approximately 8:50 a.m. police were notified regarding an act of vandalism that had just occurred in the parking lot of an address in the 500 block of Albert Street in downtown Kingston.

 

Police responded and spoke with the complainant who had observed the accused in the proximity of a white car in the parking lot at this address. The accused had been observed extensively vandalizing the car with a permanent black marker. The accused wrote over the entirety of the hood, windshield, roof, and driver’s side of the motor vehicle.

 

The accused had also been observed on security video on top of the motor vehicle, which was unoccupied at the time that the acts of mischief occurred. The total amount of damage to the vehicle was estimated to be approximately $3000.

 

Police quickly located and arrested the accused nearby and they were subsequently transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

 

A 26-year-old local individual was charged with mischief under $5000 and four counts of breach of probation.
