Kingston Police, with funding made available through the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, is again offering full-time summer employment through the Youth In Policing Initiative (YIPI).

An individual formerly employed by a local agency that offers 24-hour care for severely disabled individuals has been charged by Kingston Police for defrauding the six clients in her care.

Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC), the City of Kingston, Kingston Police, Kingston Fire and Rescue, Frontenac Paramedics, and the Frontenac OPP are collectively asking for the public's cooperation on April 8, the day of the total solar eclipse, to ensure safety and accessibility across the city.

Kingston Police are currently dealing with an active incident in the area of Canatara Court. There is no immediate threat to the general public. However, we are asking the public to avoid the area at this time and that anyone living in the area stay clear of police activity. 

Millions of people around the world are paying their taxes this time of year, and cybercriminals and scammers are hoping to get paid, too. In this scam, they’re taking advantage of tax season by trying to trick you into opening an email and downloading a malicious PDF attachment. The email they send looks like a government form and includes a link to download the PDF attachment. The scammers even include helpful instructions for pasting the web page URL into your browser in case the link isn’t working.

On March 31, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m. an assault occurred in the vicinity of Montreal Street near Rideau Street in the City of Kingston.

On March 27, 2024, at approximately 8:50 a.m. police were notified regarding an act of vandalism that had just occurred in the parking lot of an address in the 500 block of Albert Street in downtown Kingston.

Suspicious text messages asking community members to immediately pay parking tickets have been reported to the City of Kingston and Kingston Police. Parking tickets cannot be paid via text message. Be aware of suspicious looking text messages and don’t click links in them or provide personal information such as passwords.

On March 26, 2024, at approximately 8:55 p.m. a concerned citizen contacted police to advise that they had observed a motor vehicle driving on lawns and almost striking a building on Stuart Street in downtown Kingston. It was further reported that this vehicle was driving on a flat tire.
