Unruly individual arrested in downtown Kingston after causing a disturbance

On May 26, 2024, at approximately 8:10 p.m. police were dispatched to the area of the 200 block of Princess Street regarding an individual who was screaming and causing a disturbance while also chasing after bystanders on the sidewalk.

This individual had been observed aggressively swinging their arms and kicking at people who were walking in the area. Others who had observed this individual’s actions had crossed the street to avoid a confrontation.

Once on scene, officers observed the accused walking westbound up Princess Street from Clergy Street. They were observed kicking at the air while shouting obscenities and ignored police requests to speak with them. As officers approached, the individual turned toward them with a raised fist and attempted to strike one of them.

At approximately 8:20 p.m. the accused was arrested and placed in the back of a police cruiser. The accused continued to be unruly by shouting obscenities while in the back seat of the police cruiser and was observed spitting multiple times on the plexiglass partition between the front and rear seats.

The accused was subsequently transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

A 34-year-old local individual was charged with causing a disturbance by shouting, resisting a peace officer, mischief under $5000, and breach of probation.
