Individual arrested and charged with drug trafficking and weapon offences

On May 27, 2024, in the early morning hours, police were contacted by the complainant who reported that their wallet had recently been stolen and their debit card had been used to fraudulently book a room at a local motel in midtown Kingston.

Further investigation revealed that the accused, who was not known to the complainant, had booked the motel room, with the stolen debit card, in their own name. Police attended the motel and located the accused walking out of a room into the hallway holding a flick knife in their hand. At the request of the officers, the accused dropped the knife onto the floor. When asked if the accused was in possession of any other weapons, they produced a second knife which was also seized by police.

The accused was found to be in possession of the complainant’s stolen debit card along with various quantities of drugs including fentanyl, carfentanil, and crystal methamphetamine.

On this same date at approximately 2:50 a.m., the accused was placed under arrest and subsequently transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

Tyler WATTS a 30-year-old local individual, was charged with three counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for trafficking, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, possession of a prohibited weapon while prohibited, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, possessing proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 and failing to comply with a probation order.
