Individual arrested and charged after assaulting three separate family members

In the early morning hours of June 23, 2024, police responded to a call regarding an assault that had just occurred at a residence on Amberdale Crescent, located in Kingston’s west end.

On this date the accused, while visiting their ex-partner’s residence, had fallen asleep on a chair in the main living area of the home. The accused, who had been consuming alcohol, was politely asked to leave the residence. The accused, once awoken, was verbally aggressive toward the victim and their two children, who were also inside the residence.

While encouraging the accused to leave the residence they suddenly lashed out violently, striking the victim in the head with a container of paint. One of the children, who was a teenager, came to the aid of the victim, however, the accused grabbed them and attempted to strangle them. As the victim and a second adult sibling attempted to thwart the attack, the accused struck the sibling in the face.

The accused left the residence but continued screaming outside of the home and banging at the front door before finally departing from the property on foot. At approximately 2:00 a.m., police located and arrested the accused in the area of Bayridge Drive and Hudson Drive.

The accused was subsequently transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing.

A 63-year-old local individual was charged with assault with a weapon and two counts of assault.
