One Man Arrested, Police Looking for Second, After Failed Robbery
A 22-year-old local man was arrested shortly after a failed robbery attempt on Clergy street. A second male is currently being sought.
On June 14, 2017 at approximately 6:00 p.m. the victim was walking south bound on Clergy Street East. Two men that had been walking ahead of the victim suddenly stopped. As the victim continued walking, one man pulled out a knife while the second man approached and demanded her purse. The man tried to grab the purse and after a brief struggle the two men took off without it. One man fled on foot and the second on a bicycle.
The victim called police and officers began searching the area. A man matching the description of the one who held the knife was located and arrested.
The man was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day. He was charged with robbery, possession of a weapon, and assault with a weapon.
The victim was not injured.
The second man has not yet been found and Detectives are currently investigating. He is described as a white male, late teens to early twenties, tall, skinny, dark red shorter hair, last seen wearing dark clothing. He was last seen riding on Clergy Street.
