Kingston Police Warn of Suspicious Persons Begging for Gas Money
Release Date: May 4, 2018
Kingston Police want to alert citizens to suspicious activity regarding men begging and pleading for money to buy fuel.
Reports have been received of two men that have approached citizens in local parking lots and even attempted to stop motorists on Highway 401 ramps. The behaviour of the men is distracting as they frantically yell and plead for money to buy fuel. On some incidents the men have offered jewelry as collateral if the citizen will go to an ATM machine to get money. The jewelry is believed to be fake and in one incident the men put the fake jewelry on a citizen and then it is suspected they removed her jewelry.
The suspects were described as West Asia in appearance, with one in his 30’s and the other in his 60’s. They have been seen in a silver Mercedes and a white SUV.
The men tend to target elderly persons, but if anyone is approached by men acting in this manner, please attempt to obtain a licence plate and contact police as soon as possible.
