Youth Charged after Assault and Threats at School

A 17-year-old local youth has been charged after attacking and threatening a student at a local secondary school.


On November 8, 2017 at approximately 2:45 p.m. the victim was outside the local secondary school that he attends. The accused and a male who do not attend the school were on the property in a vehicle with a female student. The accused and second male do not know the victim personally, but randomly began calling him names. The accused then called the victim on to fight, eventually exiting his vehicle and approaching him. The accused struck the victim twice before a teacher intervened and the accused fled.


Police were called and attended the accused residence where they did not locate him, but advised his mother of the incident.


On November 9, 2017 at approximately 9:30 p.m. the accused attended police headquarters with his mother. The accused was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.


The accused was charged with assault and utter threats.
