Woman Assaults Officer with Shoe



A 32-year-old local woman hit an officer with her shoe and attempted to bite officers after she was arrested for breaching he release conditions.


On June 18, 2017 at approximately 10:15 p.m. a patrol officer was approached by citizens regarding a woman screaming in the bushes near Cassidy Street and Montreal Street. The officer located the woman laying down amongst trees. The officer determined the woman was intoxicated by alcohol. The woman attempted to flee, but was having trouble standing and running.


The woman was found to be on release conditions that included not being outside her residence with alcohol in her system. When officers moved to arrest her, she attempted to run away and then resisted at one point striking one officer with her shoe while kicking and screaming.


At police headquarters the accused attempted to flee again. The accused had to be physically escorted to the cells at which point she attempted to bite the arresting officers. Once placed in the cell she grabbed officer’s legs and attempted to bite them again.


The accused was held to attend a bail hearing the following day. She was charged with resist arrest, assault police, and two counts of breach recognizance.
