Wanted Man Fights with Police

A 37-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested after fighting with officer.


On Monday at approximately 9:30 p.m. a Kingston Police officer was patrolling on Pine Street when he noticed a man walking on the sidewalk who he believed was wanted. The officer stopped to speak with the man who provided a false name. When the officer attempted to arrest the man, he resisted and made a chopping motion on the officer’s forearms. He grabbed the officer’s vest and tried to push him backwards. A fist fight followed and the man ripped the officer’s shirt. Additional officers arrived and the man was taken into Police custody on the outstanding warrant.


The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.


The accused was charged with Obstruct Police, Assault Police and failing to abide by conditions of his recognizance.
