Man Walking in Middle of Road Charged with Weapons Offences

A 25-year-old local man was found to be carrying weapons and used needles after police stopped him for walking down the middle of the road.
On April 15, 2018 at approximately 9:30 a.m. officers responded to reports of a male walking on Portsmouth Avenue who appeared to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. The male was located walking in the middle of Union Street while acting oddly and rambling. He was found to have a cut on his fingers and during a search officers located an opened flip knife, a can of pepper spray, and a used syringes in his pockets. The accused identified himself and was found to be on conditions not to possess drug paraphernalia.
The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
The accused was charged with two counts of unlicenced possession of prohibited weapon, two counts of breach recognizance, and breach probation.
