Large Drug Bust on Rideau Street
A 28-year-old local man and a 26-year-old local woman both of no fixed address have been arrested by the Kingston Police Drug Unit.
On Friday September 8 at approximately 10:00 a.m. undercover officers sat on Rideau Street watching an unattended car with stolen plates attached. The accused persons got into the car and prepared to drive off. The unmarked police cars pulled up to box them in but the driver rammed the cruiser and a fire hydrant in an effort to get away. After a brief struggle, both were taken into Police custody. After further investigation, 22 criminal charges were laid against the pair including carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon (replica firearm), possession of proceeds of crime, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, dangerous driving, breach of probation, fail to comply with judicial release, and fail to comply with undertaking.
The drugs which were seized were suspected heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine.
The accused persons were transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
