Johnson Street Accident Ends with Impaired Arrest

A 25-year-old local man has been arrested after being involved in an early morning accident on Johnson Street.
On Monday September 11 at approximately 3:50 a.m. Kingston Police were called to a motor vehicle accident on Johnston Street near Gibson Avenue. The accident involved a Cadillac sedan and a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Utility Vehicle. Kingston Fire and Rescue and Regional Ambulance were also in attendance.
One of the drivers was taken into Police custody and provided two breath samples. The accused was found to have 1 ½ times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
The accused was charged with impaired driving and operating a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol.
The accused was later released on a Promise to Appear (PTA) with a future court date. His driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 90 days and he would face a one year suspension if convicted. The vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days, with the accused being responsible for all fees and fines.
The accused did sustain minor injuries in the accident.
