Woman Bites Police Officer

Release Date: September 13, 2018

A 30-year-old local woman commits theft and bites arresting officer.

On September 12 at approximately 1:30 p.m. an Avenue Road resident returned home for lunch to find a suspicious woman leaving his building. She was carrying a bag and when he questioned her she seemed to be making up a story. He was wary of her and took her picture with his phone. He later learned that the woman had in fact stolen some clothing from a unit in the building. Kingston Police were called and the photo of the suspect was shown to the investigating officer. Later the same day, at approximately 9:45 p.m. Police were called to a motel on Princess Street for a disturbance. It was determined that this was the same woman responsible for the earlier theft. When the responding officer attempted to arrest her, she fought and bit his arm. She was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with unlawfully in a dwelling house, theft, and assault Police.

The officer was treated for minor injuries.
