Man Arrested With Knapsack Full of Tools

Release Date: September 27, 2018

A 31-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested after being found with break-in tools.

On September 27 at 3:30 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to the area of Bagot Street and Earl Street for a suspicious man who had just been in an underground parking garage on Stuart Street and was carrying three backpacks. The officers located the man who was dressed in dark clothing, with hood up, and wearing gloves. The man identified himself to the officers who did not believe he was telling the truth. The man insisted that he was giving his real name but eventually the officers learned his true identity without his co-operation.  The accused was arrested for Obstruct Police and a search of his backpack revealed an assortment of tools including a handsaw, bolt cutters, vice grips, a crowbar, a hammer and a utility knife.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with obstruct Police, possession of break-in tools and three counts of breach of probation.
