Release Date: December 3, 2018

18-45407

On November 30, 2018 at approximately 11:45 p.m. a witness contacted police reporting a vehicle traveling westbound on Johnson Street was crossing the median and jumping up on the curb. With the on-going assistance of the witness the vehicle was located westbound on Bath Road near Centennial Drive. The officer observed the vehicle swaying between lanes and conducted a traffic stop that required multiple uses of the siren.

The officer made observations the accused was impaired by alcohol. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he provided two breath samples. The accused was found to have just under 3 times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

A 50-year-old local man was charged with impaired driving and operating a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol.

The accused was later released with a future court date. His driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 90 days and would face a one year suspension if convicted. The vehicle was seized and impounded for 7 days, with the accused being responsible for all fees and fines.
