On April 16, 2019 at approximately 11:50 p.m. the two accused broke into an apartment complex in city central. The 38-year-old accused man used a pry bar to break a lock while the 28-year-old accused man covered his face and kept a look out. Both accused then entered the building and went into the garage area. Locks securing two bicycles to a rack were cut and both accused fled on the stolen bikes. The break and enter and theft was discovered and reported to police.

On May 3, 2019 both accused were identified as a result of the investigation. The 28-year-old accused was found to already be in custody on another matter.

On May 7, 2019 at approximately 1:30 p.m. a patrol officer observed the 38-year-old accused riding a bicycle on Princess Street. The accused refused to stop, riding onto Holden Street and then behind an address. The officer exited the cruiser and chased the accused on foot, catching and arresting him behind the address.

During a search of the accused and his backpack, the officer found a large pair of bolt cutters, key chains containing numerous keys, knives, screwdrivers, and various tools commonly used for break and enter.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

A 38-year-old local man and a 28-year-old local man were both charged jointly with break and enter. The 38-year-old was additionally charged with two counts of mischief, two counts of possession of break in tools, theft, and two counts of breach probation. The 28-year-old was additionally charged with mischief, have face masked to commit offence, theft, and breach probation.
