Operation Impact 2022

Officers in the Kingston Police Traffic Safety Unit were on the roads throughout the Thanksgiving Weekend participating in Canada wide #OperationImpact2022. Excessive speeding was a particular concern with speeds as high as 52 km/h over the posted limit on residential roads. In partnership with Ministry of Transportation of Ontario, Kingston Police Traffic officers also conducted a Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) safety initiative.

In total, 43 charges were laid for offences including excessive speeding, careless driving, driving without a licence, and driving with no insurance. 15 Commercial motor vehicle level one safety inspections were completed, resulting in 4 unsafe trucks taken off the road, and 5 commercial drivers issued 72-hours CMV driving suspensions.
