Release Date: March 8, 2019

In January 2019, while at their downtown residence the male accused and female victim were involved in a domestic dispute that resulted in the accused punching the victim in the face, which resulted in a swollen black eye. The accused and victim had been involved in a relationship since April 2018.

On February 10, 2019 police became aware of ongoing harassment by the accused after the victim had ended the relationship earlier that month. The harassment stemmed from numerous phone calls and text messages from the accused. The victim would attempt to block the accused from contacting her however he used a variety of text and calling apps in efforts to conceal his phone number. Police had proceeded to caution the accused to refrain from further harassing communications with the victim.

On March 7, 2019 police learned that despite being cautioned by the police the accused was continuing to harass the victim. Further investigation revealed that the accused had also made threats to harm the victim.

On March 8, 2019 at approximately 1:59 a.m. police located and arrested the accused who was then transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

A 50-year-old local man was charged with assault, criminal harassment and uttering threats of bodily harm.
