On April 11, 2019 at approximately 12:32 p.m. police responded to a call regarding a motor vehicle collision that had occurred at the intersection of Bath Road and Gardiners Road. Upon arrival police discovered that three vehicles had been involved in the crash that occurred in the eastbound lane of Bath Road. Police learned that the male accused had been swerving between lanes prior to rear-ending a vehicle that was stopped at a red light at the intersection. The force of this impact had caused this vehicle to then in turn rear-end another vehicle.


Police spoke to the accused who displayed physical symptoms of being impaired. The accused was arrested for impaired driving by drug and transported to police headquarters where he was tested by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Officer. At the conclusion of the tests it was the determination of the DRE that the accused was impaired by drug. The accused was later released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date. His driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and he would face a one year suspension if convicted. The vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days, with the accused being responsible for all fees and fines.


A 43-year-old local man was charged with impaired operation of conveyance.
