On February 11, 2020 at approximately 5:10 p.m. the male accused and female victim engaged in an argument at the victim’s midtown Kingston apartment. The two had been involved in a relationship over the last eleven years.


On this date the argument became physical and the accused approached the victim and, after grabbing her, then proceeded to push her backwards.


The male victim, who had heard the loud commotion and was a neighbour of the victim, attended her residence and attempted to intervene in the dispute. The accused immediately became physically assaultive toward the male victim and proceeded to punch him several times in the face. During the altercation with the male victim the accused also damaged various household items in the living room of the residence.


The accused then left the residence however returned shortly after and attempted to kick in the locked door of the victim’s apartment. Police responded and Frontenac Paramedics transported the male victim to Kingston General Hospital for serious injuries sustained to his face.


Police searched the area and located the accused on Portsmouth Avenue where he was arrested and then subsequently transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.


A 35-year-old local man was charged with assault, assault cause bodily harm, mischief under $5000, and breach probation.
