On February 22, 2019 the male victim attended inside a fast food restaurant located on Division Street near Highway 401. Shortly after the victim was approached by the male accused who attempted to speak with him however was incoherent. The accused, without warning, then proceeded to stab the victim in the neck with a knife. The victim, realizing that he had been stabbed, ran behind the counter and police were immediately notified.

 

Police responded at approximately 6:37 p.m. and located the accused standing at the counter inside the restaurant still brandishing the knife. Police effected a gun point arrest at which time the accused relinquished the knife and was taken into custody.

 

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing.

 

A 26-year-old local man was charged with attempt murder, aggravated assault, and possess weapon dangerous to public peace.
