On November 30, 2019 at approximately 11:25 a.m. police responded to reports of a disturbance in the area of Kirkpatrick Street and Division Street. Upon arrival police learned that the male accused and female victim had been involved in an argument at this location. The victim was still at the scene upon police arrival however the accused had departed. The two had been involved in a relationship for approximately one year during which time the accused had assaulted the victim on multiple occasions.

During an argument on November 29, 2019, while at a residence in Kingston’s north end, a verbal argument had ensued between the accused and the victim. During the argument the accused grabbed the victim by the head with both hands and applied force causing an injury to her lip. The victim was able to free herself however she was then struck in the back of the head by the accused before he left the scene. Further investigation revealed that the accused had assaulted the victim in a similar manner numerous times throughout their relationship.

On November 30, 2019 at approximately 2:05 p.m. police located and arrested the accused at a north end Kingston residence. He was subsequently transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing.

A 44-year-old local man was charged with two counts assault.
